  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups peeled and sliced apples
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together butter and powdered sugar. Add flour and mix until crumbly. Press into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the crust.
  3. In a separate bowl, toss apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Spread over the crust evenly.
  4. In another bowl, combine oats, brown sugar, and salt. Sprinkle the streusel evenly over the apples.
  5. Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown. Let cool before slicing.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For a crumble topping variation, add chopped nuts or a drizzle of caramel sauce.
