  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and a teaspoon of sugar. Let sit until frothy, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add remaining sugar, salt, egg, and melted butter to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour, kneading until a smooth dough forms. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
  4. Meanwhile, prepare the pecan filling by mixing chopped pecans, brown sugar, melted butter, and vanilla.
  5. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down the dough and roll it into a large circle about 1/4 inch thick.
  6. Spread pecan filling evenly over the dough, then cut into wedges (like a pizza).
  7. Roll each wedge from the wide end to the tip to form crescent shapes. Place on a lined baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
