  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 20-24 bites

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • Cooking spray or parchment paper for baking

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine water and butter over medium heat. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat and add flour and salt all at once. Stir vigorously until the mixture pulls away from sides and forms a smooth dough. Let cool a few minutes.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Mix in vanilla extract until the dough is smooth and slightly sticky.
  3. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or spray with cooking spray.
  4. Fill a piping bag fitted with a star tip or a large plastic bag with the tip cut off. Pipe small strips or bite-sized portions onto the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool slightly.
  6. In a shallow bowl, mix granulated sugar and cinnamon. Toss baked churro bites in the cinnamon sugar until evenly coated.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, sprinkle with powdered sugar or serve with chocolate sauce.
  • Use a resealable plastic bag if you don’t have a piping bag.
  • Best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
