- 1 pound ground beef or turkey
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 package frozen tater tots (about 32 oz.)
- Optional toppings: chopped parsley, additional cheese
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add diced onions and cook until translucent. Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute. Add ground beef or turkey, season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning, and cook until browned. Drain excess fat and transfer the cooked meat mixture to a bowl.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In the same skillet or a mixing bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and half of the shredded cheddar cheese. Mix thoroughly. Add the cooked meat to this mixture, stirring to combine.
- Spread the meat mixture evenly in a greased baking dish. Top with a layer of frozen tater tots, spreading them out so they cover the surface. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top for extra cheesy goodness.
- Bake uncovered for about 40-45 minutes, or until the tater tots are crispy and golden brown.

- Feel free to add cooked bacon bits or sautéed mushrooms for extra flavor.
