Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 2 cups fresh broccoli florets
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil or vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch (mixed with 2 teaspoons water)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Slice the beef into thin strips against the grain. Mince the garlic and chop the broccoli into bite-sized florets. Mix soy sauce, honey, oyster sauce (if using), and sesame oil in a small bowl to make the sauce.
- Heat a tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 3-4 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add more oil if needed. Sauté the minced garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add broccoli florets and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until tender-crisp.
- Return the beef to the skillet. Pour in the sauce, stir well, then add the cornstarch slurry to thicken. Cook for another minute until shiny and coated.
- Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds or chopped green onions if desired, over rice or noodles for a complete meal.
Notes
- Use thinly sliced beef for quick cooking and tenderness. Slightly freezing the beef before slicing helps get thinner slices.
- Do not overcook the broccoli to maintain its vibrant color and nutrients.
- Adjust sauce sweetness or add spice with red pepper flakes or rice vinegar for extra flavor.
- Prepare all ingredients before cooking for quick and efficient stir-frying.
