  • Total Time: 18-20 minutes
  • Yield: 10-12 apple fritters

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large apples (preferably Granny Smith or Fuji), peeled and diced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • 1/2 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Cooking spray or a light coating of oil

Instructions

  1. Peel, core, and dice the apples into small pieces. Toss the diced apples with a tablespoon of flour to prevent sinking during cooking.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together remaining flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Add the milk, egg, and vanilla extract; stir until smooth. Gently fold in the prepared apples.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  4. Spoon the batter into small rounds and place them in the air fryer basket. Lightly spray the tops with cooking spray or brush with oil.
  5. Cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy on the outside. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Using crispy and tart apples like Granny Smith enhances flavor.
  • To make these gluten-free, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend.
  • For extra crispiness, lightly spray with oil before cooking.
  • Can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 1 month.
