- 3 cups elbow macaroni
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook macaroni according to package instructions, drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add milk and mustard, stirring until combined.
- Gradually add shredded cheeses, stirring until smooth and melted. Season with salt and pepper.
- Mix cheese sauce with cooked macaroni until evenly coated.
- Transfer to a baking dish. Mix breadcrumbs with a little melted butter and sprinkle over the top.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and crispy on top.
Notes
- For extra crunch, add crushed Ritz crackers to breadcrumbs.
- Use a mix of cheeses for a more complex flavor.
